Former Napoli midfielder, Marek Hamsik, has expressed his feelings regarding Victor Osimhen's transfer to Galatasaray, suggesting that there may have been non-football related factors involved.

Super Eagles of Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen will be absent from Galatasaray’s upcoming Turkish Super Lig match against Gaziantep FK.

According to a statement released on their official website on Monday, September 16, Victor Osimhen, along with other new signings of the club – Ismail Jakobs and Roland Sallai – will be sidelined for the game at RAMS Park. The match will kick off at 6 p.m. later today, September 17.

The statement from Okan Buruk’s side explained that Osimhen, Jakobs, and Sallai will not be part of the squad due to their registration status.

Recall that the Super Lig match was originally scheduled for the third match-day but was postponed to Tuesday, September 17.

At the time of the postponement, Osimhen, Jakobs, and Sallai were not registered, rendering them ineligible for the rescheduled fixture. Recall that they joined the Turkish side towards the end of the 2024 summer transfer window.

As a result, Osimhen will have to wait until next weekend to showcase his skills for Galatasaray after making his debut against Çaykur Rizespor the previous weekend. Recall that he provided an assist in the 5-0 bashing of Rizespor.

Looking ahead, the 25-year-old Nigeria international will face a significant challenge in the Süper Lig when Galatasaray visit Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium to take on Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe in the upcoming weekend.
